Manifesto

Gallery focuses on contemporary art and art research in the Central and Eastern European area. It celebrates the professional work of artists and creators, combining an interest in modern humanities and natural science disciplines.

At The House, we present radical, conceptual arts, as well as classical paintings and other more traditional artistic disciplines, and we are equally interested in the use of performance and new technologies. Essentially, though, our aim is always to present high quality works spanning a range of individual artistic personalities, media, and approaches.

We present exhibitions, lectures, social programs, and partner productions with the understanding that art is a unique tool capable of inspiring
critical self-reflection in both the artist and the viewer.

At its core, The House is a long-term project with the goal of having a positive impact on its community through innovation, transparency, and active discourse on current events and societal issues.

THE HOUSE.ART FOUNDATION FUND

The House Gallery Foundation is a non-profit institution that supports cultural and charitable activities related to promotion of Czech contemporary art. Its mission is to create an environment that enables the full development of young artists.

One of the key objectives of The House Foundation Fund is supporting artists in the early stages of their creative careers, especially recent graduates of art schools. This includes the acquisition of works for The House collection, the organization of exhibitions and live events, as well as the operation of several start-up art studios located in The House’s multifunctional cultural center in Prague 6.

THE HOUSE GALLERY ARCHITECTURE

The House Gallery’s architectural history goes back to the 1930s when it was designed by architect Tomáš Šašek.

The Gallery’s modern iteration highlights the original spatial qualities of the house while partially preserving the building’s original appeal and highlighting the space’s century-old charm in a new context.

The exterior of the house preserves the original landscape design, with a new layer created by wild invasive plants, slightly tamed, so as to create the ideal conditions for innovation, artistic expression, and a sculpture park.
